Find your model number on the ID tag

On a 5000 the ID tag is on the mounting boss. A 5000V model number starts 2002, and the last three digits give the ratio. We often write it short, so 2002-000-005 and 2002-005 are the same unit.

The tag shows the nominal ratio. The gears are cut to the actual ratio, and forward and reverse run at the same ratio. These parts change with it: the input shaft assembly (131), the lay shaft assembly (132), the intermediate shaft (140) and the gear on each clutch shaft (705 and 706). Type your tag number in the box above and those parts switch to your model.

Gerotor or Crescent pump

The factory list shows two versions of the pump end, one with a Gerotor pump and one with a Crescent pump. These items change with it. If you can't tell which one you have, call us with the tag number.

Input shaft and lay shaft

The 5000V has two clutch packs, one on the input shaft (Figure P-3) and one on the lay shaft (Figure P-4). They share most of their parts, so the factory prints one list for both, with a quantity for each shaft. The drawings number the shared parts the same way, and each part here shows how many go on each shaft. The clutch cylinders are handed: 715 goes on the input shaft and 716 on the lay shaft.

What the marks in the factory list mean

• AR As required. These are the selective-fit shims (109, 122 and 138).
• NSS Not sold separately. You buy the assembly it's part of.

Common questions

Does this cover the 5000A?

No. This is the 5000V V-drive, with tags that start 2002. The factory parts list for the in-line 5000A is in a different manual. Call us with your 2001 tag number and we'll look up the part.

Where's the ID tag on a 5000V?

On the mounting boss. It's a small metal tag stamped with the model number and serial number.

Are the input shaft and lay shaft clutch parts the same?

Mostly. The clutch plates, piston, springs, seals and bearings on Figures P-3 and P-4 share part numbers. The clutch cylinders are handed (715 on the input shaft, 716 on the lay shaft), and each shaft has a few parts of its own.

Why do some parts say pick your model?

The input and lay shaft assemblies, the intermediate shaft and the 705 and 706 gears change with the ratio. Pick your model or type your tag number and they show the right number.

How many clutch kits do I need?

One 2001-410-002 kit does one clutch. Rebuilding both the input shaft and lay shaft clutches takes two.

What are items 109, 122 and 138?

Selective-fit shims. The thickness is picked during assembly to set bearing preload, so the factory lists every size.
